First off our trials and tribulations to get to Oslo was not the fastest in the world.

A meal at the Hilton Airport Ottawa the night before depature. I had a salmon.

I thought it would help to get some 'smarts" in me lol

Well, our luggage was tagged and ready

We made it to NY so we had lunch

Yes Luggage followed

What do you do when you have a 5 hour wait before your flight?

Now flying to Amsterdam

And onward to Oslo...with Luggage

We were well received by VIKING at the airport (I was too tired and distracted to take a picture). They brought us to our hotel and we were more than happy to go to our room and "rest".

The time difference wasn't that bad

So this basically is the start of DAY 1

We ended up going over to the train station to see if there was anything to eat

Morning breakfast at the Thorn. In retrospec when you compare the breakfasts in Canada and the USA when you go to a hotel with breakfast included or even those you pay extra, I ask you, are they this elaborate?

We went on a VIKING organized tour in Oslo.

This is Vigeland Park that we visited. The Monolith stands at the highest point. The sculpture is carved out of one stone block, hence the name. The sculpture depicts 121 human figures clinging and floating together. There's women and men of different ages, and the top of the Monolith is crowned with children.It has been interpreted as a kind of vision of resurrection, and our longing and striving for spirituality. Our tour guide had some interesting insights in how some of the sculptures really show the struggle we have grappling with life and living.It shows the youth of this world being mentored by the older generation. All the stones are smooth to the touch. Just a wonderful exhibit.

In walking around Oslo, we noticed a colored forklift and thought of Matthew working on those things. In the military, though it is small, they were called RTFL (rough terrain fork lift)

Such great use of space.

I am not spying on people. These are floating "sauna" or some kind of baths, that are in the port. As you walk along, you can just go and "do your thing".

I wanted a Helly Hansen hat so we found a store and if you look down the roadway, this whole section is a walking store paradise.

On the 4th of Aug we were scheduled to leave by train from Oslo to Bergen.
